Test Questions…

On my final for my class “The History of Jesus and Paul” there was a final essay question.  The Question:

“Suppose you know someone who attends one of these congregations that claim they are worshiping as the first century church did.  Knowing what you know now, what are some pointers or criticisms that you can give them based on historical and literary elements?  What books should they be using?  What should their worship look like?  Do you feel that anyone is worshiping as the first century church did?”

I felt over-qualified for this question.  I started my answer with:

“As a member of one of these congregations…”

    My answer was pretty long and probably not too flattering to many congregational hard-liners. But there is more to the first century than elders and the lack of women and instruments.
