This is not a post the logos as in “the word” I mean logo, icon–the little picture.
I have been thinking about branding for churches. The congregation that I am currently a part of here in Springdale is really looking to get more into the community and change its face a little bit. It is talking about revamping and heading in a more outward direction. I, for one, am for it.
Some friends and I have been discussing design ideas for churches and I have been looking over some icons that other churches use for their events, products, activities, sermon series, bulletins, websites, decals, etc. I have put together some of my favorites for your consideration.
I mean, there should be no shocker here. Anyone who knows me knows that I am in love with Mars Hill Church in Seattle. This is there icon which is very simple, distinguishable and easy.
This is Mars Hill Bible Church in Grand Rapids. A different look. I like that it doesn’t have the church name in it at all, but I would understand how it would be hard to do enough in the community for this image to become automatically associated with your church.
Mosaic is a large multi campus church here in America. This design is a bit different from most of the others because it is so involved whereas the others I like are pretty simple. One problem I foresee is trying to do anything unique or original with the cross. There are only so many things you can do with two lines before it becomes a bit ridiculous.
I know nothing about this church. Just liked this guy.
Again, I don’t really know much about this church, but thought the star was pretty cool. Like I said, there is only so much that you can do with a cross or steeple or something like that. I like the route they took with the star.
I don’t know anything about Austin New Church, but again, was drawn to this logo mostly out of its simplicity and basic look.
